The last stage of the Tour of Qatar was won by Chloe Hosking of Wiggle High5, almost a bike length ahead of Kirsten Wild of Hitec and Monique Van De Ree of Lares Waowdeals. Trixi Worrack (Canyon SRAM) kept her GC lead to take the overall win, with the entire top 10 in the GC hardly changing from the previous day. After an exhausting 3 days the riders looked like they’d already finished the last stage before it had begun. The Doha Corniche Circuit was taken 11 times and, apart from a plucky but doomed attack from Coryn Rivera (UHC), the riders mostly kept together to finish in a mass bunch sprint. Orica AIS, Wiggle High5, Cylance, Hitec, RaboLiv, and Ale Cipollini made it to the front in time to sprint. I didn’t think Lares Waowdeals would be able to contest it but they got a fantastic result with a very consistent Van De Ree. They will certainly be going into the Classics on a high. The route of the 1st Womens CiCLE Classic (UK) on the 17th of July has also been published, full details here. Drops Cycling will be taking part.
Audrey Cordon of Wiggle High5 had to drop out of the Tour of Qatar due to a broken collarbone. Ciclism Actu has an interview about her next steps.
